The Delaware County Symphony (DCS) is pleased to present a program entitled "Musical Perspectives" on Sunday January 29 @ 2:00 pm. The program will feature Michael Bolton as guest speaker. Mr. Bolton is Director of Community Programs with the Opera Company of Philadelphia. Renowed for his educational opera presentations, Mr. Bolton has lectured on Opera for Opera Company of Philadelphia, The Curtis Institute of Music, Cheyney University, Temple University's Music Preparation program, American Association of University Women, The Union League and the Bryn Mawr Film Institute among others. He has performed roles in such operas as Gianni Schicchi, Un Ballo in maschera, Beatrice et Benedict, and Tosca, and has sung with the Bel Canto Lyric Opera, Concert Opera Philadelphia and the Wayne Oratorio Society. Since April 2010 Mr. Bolton has been organizing "pop-up" performances throughout Philadelphia which brings the arts out of the concert hall and into the community. Mr. Bolton's random acts of culture have included two events at the Reading Terminal Market (the Brindisi from La Traviata and the Toreador Song from Carmen), organizing a 650 voice choir for a performance of the Hallelujah Chorus at Macy's in Philadelphia and several more. The video documents of these events have yielded over 10 million hits on YouTube. Musical Perspectives is an annual event for speakers to discuss topics of broad interest and to share their experiences with music lovers. DCS board member Nancy Kauffman added, "We are delighted to have Michael Bolton as this year's guest speaker. During the past 20 years our Musical Perspectives program has featured many insightful and fascinating personalities from the classical music scene including music critic Peter Dobrin and many members of the Philadelphia Orchestra such as David Wetherill, Jeffrey Kahner and Lloyd Smith. This year our guest speaker brings to the program a wealth of experiences and contributions to the world of Opera. The symphony welcomes all in our region to join our patrons, community members, musicians and board members for this unique and insightful musical experience. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday January 29 in the home of Barbara and Matthew Cohen, 2207 Windsor Circle, in Broomall, PA.
